of your monthly close.
Important pricing notes. Plans are billed monthly. A QuickBooks Online
subscription is required and billed separately by Intuit. Average monthly expenses are reviewed
periodically, and a client moves to the appropriate tier when the three-month average crosses a
pricing threshold. New-client setup and historical cleanup are not included in the monthly plan
and are quoted after reviewing the books.
The monthly plans do not include invoicing, bill payment, A/R collection, A/P management, payroll, sales-tax filing, 1099 preparation, income-tax preparation, HR, consulting, or administrative support. Each is available as an add-on below.

FAQs

Straight Answers

How much does bookkeeping cost for a home service business?

Monthly bookkeeping is $175 for businesses with up to $25,000 in average monthly expenses, $350 from $25,001 to $150,000, and $550 above $150,001 — each priced below QuickBooks Live Full-Service Bookkeeping on the same expense ranges. Plans are billed monthly and a QuickBooks Online subscription is required and billed separately by Intuit.

Do you work with cleaning companies?

Yes. Cleaning and janitorial services are one of our core client types, alongside roofing, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, pest and wildlife control, pressure washing, painting, remodeling, pool service, garage doors, flooring, appliance repair and handyman businesses.

My books are months behind. Can you fix that?

Yes. Most clients come to us behind. We assess how far back the gap goes, quote the cleanup as a one-time project, and then move you onto a monthly plan so it never happens again. Multi-year cleanup is available.

Do I need a bookkeeper or a CPA?

Most home service businesses need both, doing different jobs. A bookkeeper keeps your books accurate month to month. A CPA uses those books to file your taxes and plan strategy. Clean monthly books make your CPA cheaper and faster — and they're what lenders and bonding companies ask for.

Is HERO local or remote?

We're based in the Greater Orlando Area and all of our work is done remotely, so we serve home service businesses in all 50 states. If a job needs someone onsite, that can be arranged for an additional travel charge.

Do you use my QuickBooks or move me to something new?

We work inside your existing QuickBooks Online account. Our team is QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor Certified — Gold Tier, so there's no migration, no new software to learn, and you keep full ownership and access to your file.

What does payroll cost per employee?

Managed payroll is a $50 monthly minimum plus $10 per employee per month, processed through QuickBooks Payroll. The QuickBooks Payroll subscription is billed separately by Intuit.

Can you handle both W-2 employees and 1099 subcontractors?

Yes — that mix is standard in the trades. We process W-2 payroll with tax filings and direct deposit, and handle 1099 contractor payments with year-end 1099 preparation. Your QuickBooks subscription is billed separately by Intuit.

What kind of agreement do you use?

Bookkeeping plans are billed monthly. You can start with one service and add others as you grow, and add-ons are quoted before any work begins.

What is the Operational Health Assessment?

It's a free assessment that shows you where your back office is losing time and money — books, payroll, admin load, lead follow-up and reporting. It takes about 5 minutes, and you get the findings whether or not you work with us.

What is BOSS?

BOSS (Business Operations Support Software) is HERO's own CRM platform. It captures leads, texts back missed calls, manages your pipeline, automates follow-up, and requests reviews after completed jobs. Plans start at $97 per month. Setup and ongoing management are available at an additional cost, quoted after your assessment.

How is HERO different from an online bookkeeping service?

Two things. First, you get an accountant-led team rather than an app and a support queue. Second, we can cover the whole back office — bookkeeping, payroll, HR, admin support and CRM management under one roof, instead of just the books.
